LOAN DETAILS
Stafford Loans allow dependent undergraduate students to borrow on a subsidized basis up to the following amounts

 

$3,500 freshman year

$4,500 sophomore year

$5,500 each year thereafter

 

Subsidized means that the Federal Government pays the interest on your loan while you are in school.

Note: Independent students (i.e. not a dependent) may be eligible to borrow additional unsubsidized loans up to $4,000 during their freshman and sophomore years and $5,000 each year thereafter. Many independent students use both the subsidized and the unsubsidized loans to borrow the maximum amount permitted each year.

RATES
Effective July 1, 2007 the Stafford loan program now has a Fixed Interest Rate of 6.8%. Student Loan International offers a Zero Fee Stafford Loan with fixed interest rate options as low as 6.55% during repayment.



Borrower benefits:

Zero Fees No origination or default fees* are charged or subtracted from the Student Loan Xpress Stafford Loan amount. Other Stafford Loans currently have fees of 3%.
3 for FREE Stafford borrowers receive an additional 3 months of repayment relief* upon graduation following their grace period. This gives undergraduate students 9 months to get their finances in order before they make their first payment.
Rate Reduction Stafford borrowers receive a .25% interest rate reduction when they sign up for auto-debit of their loan payments
